Calling All Engineering Alumni!

Following on from our pre-reception at The Centenary Ball and to further commemorate the 100th year of UEC, we would like to invite UWA engineering graduates to a cocktail night in the new engineering building.

If you have graduated from UWA with a Bachelor of Engineering or a Masters of Professional Engineering and are interested in reconnecting with other graduates and the current committee, alongside canapés, cocktails, and beers, make sure to save the date!

With your thesis proposals nearly due come down for a last-minute cramming session as you finish off those proposals. There will be some students there who have already submitted their proposal before who can provide a helping hand if you still have any questions.

UEC will hold the 2021 Special General Meeting on Friday 10 September at 12:00pm.

The purpose of this meeting is to vote on the proposed changes to the UEC Constitution.

Interested in securing Vacation Work? No need to stress because UEC is here to help.

Our Shark Tank Workshop Event is being run for students looking for Vacation Work and those practicing for interviews. Come down and network with companies where they will set real world industry related problems to which you must devise innovative solutions together with others on your table.

This is the perfect time to practice and learn to think on your feet for those tricky interview questions in a more relaxed environment. Students can receive feedback from company representatives to help them with future interviews. There will be 3 x 20-minute rotations, meaning you will get to experience at least 3 problems, followed by a networking session over some pizza.

As we are getting closer to the end of the semester, it is more important than ever to actively encourage more open conversation about mental health, perhaps especially among men, who often don’t talk about these issues enough, or at all.

UEC and Science Union’s Men’s Mental Health Workshop is the perfect opportunity for guys to boost their understanding of mental health and learn how to engage with their mental health positively.

Volunteers from Man Up will be facilitating discussion and reflection regarding mental health and presenting information on depression and other mental health issues as well as suggesting healthy coping mechanisms and ways to deal with these issues.

Lunch will be provided and the event is totally free! This is an unmissable opportunity hope to see as (men)y of you as possible!

It’s vacation work application time and the University Engineers Club is here to help! Our Vacation Work Expo is the perfect opportunity to connect with companies who are looking to recruit for their vacation and graduate programs. This is your chance to network with industry representatives and get firsthand information about applications, vacation work structure and future graduate program prospects!

As we are coming to the final few weeks of semester 1 I'm sure everyone is under a lot of stress, especially with all of the changes and restrictions due to COVID-19. UEC's boardgames night should give you a chance to get your mind off it all and take a bit of a break to relax with friends and have some fun! Unfortunately, masks will be compulsory due to current restrictions.

There will be plenty of pizza provided and many classic board games, but feel free to bring your favourite board games too!

We are extremely proud of being the oldest club at UWA, with a long rich history. We’d love to celebrate this exciting milestone with UEC members old and new, as this will be the biggest UEC event to date!

Networking: the art of building long-term relationships and a good reputation in the industry.

Come and join UWA IET, CPEC, UEC and Robogals as we enjoy a night of networking with industry professionals and leaders with food and drinks provided!

The event will feature company representatives from various industries. Students will have the opportunity to get valuable insights into the industry and build good connections which will be very helpful in the future.

There will be an interactive engineering case study session during the event for students to practically apply their skills, and their understanding of learned facts, to solve real-world problem.

On our bi-annual pubcrawl we venture out on bus’ from pub to pub with our final destination being located in the city and has plenty of room to have a boogie.
Our simple, traditional theme is wearing our trendy UEC shirts. So make sure you don’t forget yours or you will be looking far less cool than the rest of us. If you don’t have one, fear not as they will be available all the way up to the event!
Like always, there will be one bus going back to UWA at the end of the night for anyone that needs to get home from there.

Long ago, the four faculties lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when Blackstone attacked. Only the Proshbender, master of all four faculties could stop them, but when the world needed him most, he vanished. A hundred years passed and UEC and I discovered the new Proshbender a beerbender named Aangus.

UEC’s theme for Prosh this year will be Avatar, so dress as your favourite nation or character, prep your favourite Uncle Iroh quote and come into the city with us to sell some funny and epic newspapers for charity. There will be busses from Oak Lawn into the city leaving at 6:30am and free breakfast from 5am.
